Indore :Four days after he was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 20000 from a school teacher, state government on Friday suspended district education officer (Indore) Kishore Shinde and attached him to school education office, Bhopal.
Shinde was caught red-handed while accepting an amount of Rs 20,000 as bribe from the principal of a private school on December 14.
The accused had sought bribe from Vaishnav Bal Mandir principal Mohandas Vaishnav for bailing him out of a case pertaining to thrashing of a student.
A bribe of Rs 50,000 had been sought from Vaishnav of which he had already paid Rs 30000. Shinde was caught while taking the remaining amount at his flat in Utsav Apartment located in Jaora Compound area.
A complaint was filed by Sunil Raikawar alleging that Vaishnav had beaten up his son Hans at the school. The matter was reported to the district administration during a public hearing in November following which the authorities had asked Shinde to probe the issue.
To give clean chit to the principal, the DEO demanded Rs 50,000 bribe and had already taken Rs 30,000 from him.
After Shinde was nabbed, the Indore Lok Ayukta police had requested the government to suspend him.
An order issued by the government on Friday stated that as Shinde had been booked under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act he has been suspended.
