Indore/Sehore (Madhya Pradesh): Sehore police have busted a cyber fraud network allegedly linked to a Chinese national, arresting five people from Indore for their alleged involvement in siphoning fraud proceeds and converting them into USDT cryptocurrency.
The case came to light following a complaint by Sehore resident Kanchan Tomar, who worked from home for a website. Police registered a case under Section 318(4) of the BNS and began tracing the money trail through the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal.
According to SHO Ravindra Yadav, technical analysis showed that money allegedly taken from the complainant's account was withdrawn through ATMs on April 9 and 10.
Police first arrested Gopal Sen and Sumit Koshthi, who allegedly told investigators that they handed over withdrawn cash to Aryan Ambedkar in return for a 5% commission.
Based on their information, police arrested Ambedkar and his associate Ritesh Prajapat. During questioning, Ambedkar allegedly revealed that cyber fraud proceeds were used to purchase USDT, which was transferred through a Telegram group to a Chinese national identified as Matty .
He allegedly received a 10% commission. Police subsequently arrested Anurag Patel, who allegedly admitted to similar transactions and named Shivendra Singh Rajput as an associate.
The five arrested suspects are from Indore. Police are searching for Rajput and investigating whether the network has defrauded additional victims.
