Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh): Former BJP MLA Ram Dangore from Khandwa district has ignited a heated debate with a provocative social media post linking local forest encroachment issues to the popular film ‘Pushpa.’

In his Facebook post, Dangore likened the teak trees of the state to the valuable red sandalwood, while comparing the district forest officer (DFO) to the film's character, Shekhawat, portrayed as a corrupt police officer.

The post comes in the wake of a significant anti-encroachment operation conducted by the forest department, revenue and police, which involved 40 bulldozers and around 500 personnel to clear encroachments in the Gudi range. The operation faced resistance, with encroachers attacking forest workers, resulting in injuries.

Dangore criticised the actions of the forest officials, suggesting that while the innocent tribal communities are targeted, the real culprits—those profiting from illegal logging—remain unpunished. He questioned the DFO's accountability, suggesting that he should be suspended until the alleged losses of over Rs 1,000 crore are recovered. Drawing parallels to ‘Pushpa,’ Dangore emphasised that the wrong individuals are apprehended while the true offenders evade justice.

He has informed the Chief Minister Mohan Yadav about the situation. He anticipates the formation of an inquiry committee to investigate the matter further, promising that those found guilty will face disciplinary action.
