 People buy jewellery, vehicles on Pushya Nakshatra

Indore: Local markets, which remained sluggish, came alive as people turned up to buy gold, jewellery and vehicles on auspicious day of Pushya Nakshatra, which fell on Wednesday. The business establishments selling gold, silver, diamonds, automobiles and electronic goods drew buyers in large numbers.

Though the five-day long Deepawali festival will commence from Monday, markets perked up on Wednesday on occasion of Pushya Nakshatra. Heavy rush was seen at gold shops and automobile showrooms. The heavy rush of buyers seen on roads leading to prominent markets gave the feeling that Deepawali is approaching.

Light weight gold, diamond jewellary in high demand

According to bullion market leaders, purchases made at gold jewellery showrooms and shops at Sarafa and Nanada Nagar were impressive. Coins bearing images of Goddess Laxmi were in demand. The light-weight gold and diamond jewellery were also in good demand, a trend that picked up in last three years. Sumit Anand, a leading jeweller, said jewellery business received good response on Pushya Nakshatra.

Offers attract automobile buyers

Offers made by automobile companies attracted buyers for two and four wheelers in a big way. Compared to bikes, demand for scooters was more this time. Aditya Kasliwal, vice-president of Association of Automobile Dealers of Indore, said there is rise of 10-15% in buying of both types of vehicles on Pushya Nakshatra. “With this, we are hoping that there would be better demand on Dhanteras,” he said.
