As expected, malpractice has been found in answer books of BEd second semester exams.  Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya vice chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad said that they had conducted sample review of answer books on learning that the pass percentage in BEd second semester exam is 96. “The pass percentage was unbelievably high so we did not declare the results rather conducted sample review of answer books,” he said.

The university found gross malpractice in the review. “It was found that many students were granted high marks and in some case scores were inflated,” the VC stated.  He stated that totaling mistakes were also found in some answer books.
Out of seven subjects, including three optional, malpractice have been found in two to three subjects though two subjects’ review is still underway. “I got primary report on basis of which I ordered for re-evaluation of answer books of all those subjects in which significant variation in original and review results is found,” Dhakad said.

Copies not to be sent to Bhopal,Gwalior
Dhakad said answer books sent to teachers of Bhopal and Gwalior were found to be indulged in the malpractice. “We have decided not to send answer copies to the teachers of the two districts now. We will get answer books evaluated in our division,” he added. The university, however, refrained from blacklisting teachers found to be indulged in the malpractice.

No one from DAVV punished
It is believed that employees of evaluation centre leaked names of examiners to BEd colleges, which approached them and got the evaluation manipulated. The university did not fix responsibility of any employee of the DAVV. “We do not have any such proof so can’t act against any one,” Dhakad said. DAVV executive council member Alok Dawar stated that the employees responsible for malpractice should be identified and punished so that nobody dares to indulge in such practice in future.

Decision on Tiwari pending
The university also did not take any decision on resignation of exam controller Ashesh Tiwari. Tiwari had objected to sample review of answer books stating that if it was done he would resign. He had submitted his resignation two days ago but VC refrained from taking any call on it. The VC had stated that decision on his resignation will hinge on review report. I have received primary review report. Decision on Tiwari’s resignation will be taken after final review report, the VC stated.
