Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Former Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia opined that human intelligence must grow alongside AI to ensure compassion and morality continue to guide innovation.

"AI can compute, but it cannot build values," he said after questioning why children should attend school when machines and AI now perform most physical and mental tasks.

Speaking on the second day of Indian Journalism Festival in Indore, he stressed the need for education that promotes character, creativity and self-confidence.

The fest, hosted by State Press Club, was filled with thought-provoking discussions on artificial intelligence (AI) and education.

Panellists, including Dr Ankur Saxena, Dr Swapnil Kothari and Dr Urjita from SGSITS, agreed that AI is now indispensable, but India must build indigenous tech to truly lead. "We must go beyond using foreign platforms — our students must create the next ChatGPT," said Dr Vandana Tiwari of SGSITS.

In the second session, 11 journalists from across the state were honoured with the Saptarishi Pradeshik Samman. Press Club of India president Gautam Lahiri emphasised the need for a national media policy to ensure freedom of the press.

Later, podcast expert Amit Deyondi shared how AI enhances audio content, but warned that it can never replicate human behaviour.
