After 9 year trial, local court dismisses charges

Indore : A local court has dismissed the charges filed by a labourer with Banganga police against an industrialist of Pologround area after nine years of trial.

According to KP Maheshwari, advocate for defendant Mahesh Gupta, owner of Rohit Offset, Pologround, the complainant alleged lack of adequate safety measures in the factory for machine operation were posing threat to life and limbs. The complainant, Brijesh Yadav of New Gouri Nagar, was employed as helper in the factory. On December 26, 2009, bundles of papers fell on his feet when he was trying to move them during printing of calendars resulting in fracture. Yadav alleged that he did not want to do the moving job but his employer forced him to do so. After treating him at a hospital, he was let off. He filed a complaint with the police. Based on the statement of witnesses, police report and statement of Yadav, the court found inadequate evidence to charge him with any negligence to cause injuries to the worker and dismissed the charges.
