7 Ujjain, Indore-based bookies arrested

Cash, mobiles, laptops, dongles seized

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): The crime branch has arrested the city’s notorious bookie Jayesh Ahuja red-handed while doing speculative business. When the crime branch team picked him up he was writing the betting account sitting in a car. To avoid the media, Jayesh was seen hiding his face. He was accompanied by Gopal Imli, the infamous bookie of Indore.

The Kharakuan police had caught Kader Khan, a resident of Jansapura, on Saturday night while betting. He had told during interrogation that he works as an agent for Shastri Nagar resident Jayesh Ahuja. Thereafter, the police laid siege and after about four hours at around 11 pm, seven people were arrested from two cars. Jayesh was among those arrested. A betting machine of 26 mobile ports was confiscated from them. Along with this, 14 keypad mobiles, 14 Android mobiles, 4 internet dongles, 4 HP laptops and Rs 21,900 in cash were also seized.

A register has also been found from the accused with entries amounting to crores. Two cars a Creta (MP 09 CV 2300) and an i10 (MP 09 WJ 2083). These people were betting on a large scale by sitting in the car. When they were caught, their location was near Chintaman.

The names of the arrested accused include Naveen son of Praveen Gehlot resident of Moti Tabela, Indore, Amit son of Mahesh Rathore resident of Indira Nagar, Indore, Yogesh son of Babulal resident of Banganga, Indore, Lakshmi son of Balerao resident of Dhar, Gopal alias Imli resident of Indore, Jayesh son of Narayandas Ahuja resident of Shastri Nagar, Ujjain and Dipesh son of Anil Kukreja is resident of Marimata Indore.

Kharakuan police station-in-charge Ravindra Katare said that Jayesh Ahuja's lead was found from the bookie Kadar Khan of Jansapura. On this basis, Jayesh's mobile was taken on surveillance and he was arrested on the basis of location.

About 10 days ago, probationer IPS officer Vinod Kumar Meena had caught Ravi Sindhi. According to sources, the investigation into the suicide of businessman Govind Ramchandani had given police leads about speculative businesses being run on a large scale.

AHUJA BOOKED FOR FRAUD

The infamous bookie Jayesh Ahuja and his accomplices have also been booked for cheating under Section 420 of IPC. This section was added because the accused had taken SIMs in the name of others for their business. The bookie Kadar Khan of Jansapura, who gave clues to Jayesh Ahuja, was Jayesh Ahuja’s punter.

LINKS WITH PROPERTY BROKERS

The police have also come to know that Jayesh has linked many youths to the speculative business. These people invest the money earned from speculation in property and have recently invested crores of rupees in land in Sanvarakhedi, Jeevankhedi and Daudkhedi in order to convert their black money into white.
