Indore : Two government officials were awarded three years of rigorous imprisonment by a special court in connection with a fraud case. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 1000 on each.

Advocate Rakesh Paliwal said that government employee Santosh (50) of Dhkachiya in Kshipra had alleged got 13 begha of land belonging to his father transferred to his name in 2004. He alleged colluded with the then gram panchayat secretary Omprakash Singh and transferred the land on his name.

The duo had faked the signature of the then Sarpanch Kalabai for the fraud. In 2009, when Santosh issued a public notice for selling the land his brother Kailash was shocked to learn that the land was on the name of Santosh. When enquired from Kalabai, she refused to have approved transfer of the land. To this, an FIR was filed in Kshipra police station under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC and chargesheet was produced in the court.

Public prosecutor NA Mandloi said that special court judge P K Sinha found both Santosh and Omprakash guilty and awarded them sentence.
