Indore : Over 27 students of 205 government primary and middle schools of Indore district washed their hands in bid to make a Guinness record by the state on the occasion of ‘ Global Handwashing Day ( GHD)’ on Wednesday. The event was organised simultaneously from 11 am to noon in the schools across the state. However, uncertainty looms large over achieving the fiat due to the procedures followed in the event.
As per the schedule and the instructions of the state education centre, the programme of hand washing by the primary and middle schools students was organised in 205 government schools. Out of the total schools, 200 are from the rural areas and five from the urban. Collector Akash Tripathi and Mayor Krishnamurary Moghe inaugurated the event officially at Government Atridevi Middle School, Sudama Nagar where 740 students washed their hands in the presence of the duo.
Later, talking to Free Press Joint Director of Education, Indore Division, KK Pandey said that as per his information five teams from the Gunnies Book of World Records were in the city to record the facts and figures. One of the teams was present at the Atridevi School, he added. Pandey further said that the programme was organised simultaneously across the state to create a new world record. Presently Brazil holds the record of 17 lakh students washing hands together. In order to break the record, the state government planned a target of 20 lakh students for the attempt.
