Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): After the liquor ban, on one hand, while the police are continuously taking action against those who smuggle liquor, on the other hand, action is also being taken to destroy the illegal liquor confiscated in the police stations.

On Tuesday, action was taken to destroy 24 thousand litres of illegal liquor bottles worth about Rs 50 lakh kept in different police stations of the city by running a bulldozer.

The police have caught the people who smuggled liquor illegally and took action under the Excise Act. Illegal liquor confiscated in large quantities is lying in almost all the police stations of the city.

SP Pradeep Sharma said that the illegal liquor confiscated in all the police stations of the city was brought to the trenching ground and destroyed by running a bulldozer.

The SP also clarified that such action will be taken regularly in the future as well, so that the fear of law remains among the criminals and the general public can get a safe and peaceful environment.

Apart from this, the purpose of these actions is also to create a sacred environment in accordance with the religious city of Ujjain by cleaning and beautifying all the police station premises of the district.

The illegal liquor was stored safely in the respective seven police stations for years. The liquor was destroyed under the supervision of the joint team and as per rules. The liquor seized in a total of 107 cases registered in these police stations was collected and destroyed at the designated place under proper procedure. 

The entire action was carried out under complete transparency, legal procedure and strict security arrangements. Thes process of destruction was completed as per the guidelines laid down by the government.

In this process of destroying liquor, the presence of senior officials of Ujjain administration, senior officials of Ujjain police, senior officials of Ujjain Excise Department, concerned TIs and some independent citizens as witnesses was ensured.

Every step was carefully executed under the supervision of all these officers, so that it could be ensured that no part of the seized liquor is misused. Keeping environmental protection in mind, the relevant technical standards and environmental guidelines were fully followed in the process of destroying liquor.

Such a method was adopted for destruction that did not cause any harm to the environment, water sources or human health.
