Indore : Two professors of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGMMC) have been transferred to Sagar Medical College. After getting the transfer orders, the college authorities relieved them from their duties on Monday. According to acting Dean Dr Sanjay Dixit, the Medical Education Department issued the transfer orders of two professors— HoD of Gynecology Dr Laxmi Maroo and HoD of Biochemistry Dr Poornima De Sarkar to Sagar Medical College. “We have relieved them and they will join their duties soon,” Dr Dixit said.

According to sources, “Only a few months are left in the retirement of Dr Maroo while Dr Sarkar was transferred from Rewa last year.” They have been transferred by the Medical Education Department to show the requisite number of faculties in Sagar Medical College during inspection of the Medical Council of India. The MCI peer team will inspect on November 5.

Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh Medical Teachers’ Association raised its voice against transfer of the faculties from MGM Medical College to Sagar only to show head count there alleging it a fraud as the faculties were already counted during the MCI inspections of Indore, Bhopal and Gwalior medical colleges. Health officials are aware of norms but still they transferred the faculties.
