Bhopal/Indore (Madhya Pradesh): On the occasion of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's death anniversary, a replica of the southern gate of the iconic Sanchi Stupa has been installed near his statue in Indore. The gate was inaugurated by Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava on Friday at the Geeta Bhavan intersection.

The replica is made completely out of scrap material and looks absolutely marvelous. The original Sanchi Stupa, built by Emperor Ashoka, is one of India’s oldest Buddhist monuments. It is located in Raisen district, about 40 km from Bhopal.

According to information, the replica stands 15 feet tall, 10 feet wide, and 1.6 feet thick. It was created as part of Indore’s commitment to the "3R" formula of waste management—reduce, reuse, and recycle. This approach has helped the city secure the top spot in the National Cleanliness Survey for seven consecutive years. Scrap materials like iron sheets, pipes, motorcycle chains, nuts, bolts, and old wheelchairs were used to craft the gate.

Talking about the replica, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav tweeted, "By imbibing the ideals of the Constitution maker, respected Baba Saheb, our Indore is committed to touching new heights in cleanliness, culture, and art. In this sequence, today a replica of the south gate of Sanchi Stupa made of iron scrap was also inaugurated under the "Scrap to Art" initiative. This 15-foot-high and unique structure made of 1 tonne of iron scrap has been installed near the statue of Dr. Ambedkar ji, which is a symbol of art, innovation, and inspiration."
