Guwahati: Congress MP Rakibul Hussain on Friday hit out at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma saying that he is not an authority to register caes of conduct investigation. Hussain's remarks came after Sarma said that the Congress MP, who came under attack by miscreants, refused to undergo a medical examination that is required for an investigation.

The Congress MP also alleged that Sarma's "illegal" and "arbitrary" interferences in investigations of earlier cases boosted goons. He also tagged the Assam CM in his X post.

"HCM Assam, @himantabiswa You are neither the case registering authority nor the Investigating Authority under the BNSS, 2023. Your illegal and arbitrary interferences in investigations of earlier cases also boosted these miscreants and goons to do heinous crimes repeatedly," Hussain said in his X post.

Notably, Hussain, a Member of Parliament from Dhubri Lok Sabha seat was attending a public programme in the Nagaon district when he was attacked by some miscreants. The Congress MP had to run from the spot wearing a helmet to save himself from the attackers. The security officers of Hussain sustained minor injuries in the attack. The incident was recorded on camera and soon the video went viral on social media.

In a viral video, it was seen that some masked miscreants initially showed black flags to the Congress MP, and following that they launched an attack on him. Hussian was seen fleeing from the spot in a two-wheeler to save himself from the attack. The incident which happened in the Ruporihat locality in the Nagaon district drew criticism from the opposition, with Congress leaders hitting out at the BJP-led Assam government.
