Srinagar: In the wake of one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in Kashmir’s Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, a couple of videos featuring some cheerful visitors praising the valley's beauty has triggered intense backlash on social media.
The clips, which have now gone viral, show these tourists urging others to visit Jammu and Kashmir, while seemingly downplaying the gravity of the recent violence.
One particular video features a woman smiling and saying, “Humlog yahan Kashmir may aye hue hai, bahut maze kar rahe hai. Kuch thodi si gadbad ho gayi hai yehan Pahalgam mein (We are here in Kashmir, having a lot of fun. There has been some trouble here in Pahalgam),” referring to the attack as a minor incident.
Others around her are seen nodding in agreement, with one even adding, “Ye to chota mota chalta he rahta hai (This small thing keeps happening all the time)."

The casual tone and dismissive phrases like “choti si baat hai” angered several online, with users calling the remarks “shameless” and “insensitive.”
Social media was quick to condemn the attitude, with one user writing, “Everything seems good and justifiable until the same happens to them. No bad feelings — but they should show some basic sensitivity.”

Tensions Escalate Between India and Pakistan
The attack, which targeted Hindu tourists, has heightened tensions in the already volatile region. India has accused Pakistan of backing terrorist groups operating in Kashmir, leading to a sharp diplomatic downturn.
