Sambhal: Instagram influencers Mehak and Pari (Mehrul Nisa) were arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal for allegedly creating and circulating obscene content online. Days after the arrest, a video is circulating on social media where the duo could be seen striking a pose in front of media personnel in the SP office.

In the viral video, one of the girls could be seen winking her right eye, pouting and making a 'peace out' gesture to look cool instead of showing remorse for their videos. Meanwhile, the other girl was caught laughing. The Instagram influencers were arrested after a formal complaint was launched against them.

Apart from Mehak and Pari, their two associates - Hina and Jarrar Alam - were also taken into custody. As per the police, the group was creating abusive and obscene content and circulating it on social media with the aim of earning some money.

"When the matter was reported to the police, the concerned Instagram ID was immediately analysed to identify those involved. One such account was mehekaurpari143," said the SP as quoted by NDTV.

The police officer told the media that the arrested people were earning approximately Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 per month through the Instagram ID. They created abusive and obscene content for income and to gain followers.

Notably, a case was registered under Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 66 of the Information Technology Act, reported the media house. The police also reportedly seized two iPhones and four other smartphones. As per the report, these phones were used to make the content.

Their Instagram ID has been banned. However, their content is circulating through other accounts.

Notably, Public outrage sparked when Mehak and Pari's obscene and abusive Instagram reels started receiving massive fan following. Several netizens criticised them for polluting social platforms with vulgarity.
