Mumbai: As the Centre prepares to table the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha on April 2, political reactions continue to heat up. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made a provocative statement targeting Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena, questioning whether the party will adhere to the legacy of its founder, Balasaheb Thackeray, or align with the Congress-led opposition.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, April 1, Fadnavis wrote, "Waqf Amendment Bill is in Parliament tomorrow, now let’s see if Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sena follows Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray’s ideology or will follow footsteps of Rahul Gandhi and keep doing appeasement."

Have a look at his tweet here:

The opposition parties, including the Congress and some other regional parties, have expressed strong opposition to the Waqf bill, which aims to amend provisions relating to the management of Waqf properties.

Shiv Sena (UBT)’s position could play a critical role in determining the outcome, given the party’s influence and the alliance dynamics in Maharashtra.

In the meantime, the BJP has sent out a whip to make all its MPs attend the proceedings, and Congress has requested its MPs to be present in the sessions for the next three days.

Union Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also hared that a consensus had been reached for an eight-hour discussion on the Bill in the Lok Sabha, which could be extended if required.
