Patna: The cold-blooded murder of gangster Chandan Mishra inside Patna's Paras Hospital has brought a new name into the spotlight: Tauseef Badshah.
A man with an unnervingly calm demeanour and a gun hand, Tauseef was captured on the hospital's CCTV, walking into the ICU moments before the fatal shots were fired.
The CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media, with many comparing Tauseef's conduct to a Bollywood-style gangster. But who really is this man who walked into a hospital to kill, and didn’t flinch?
Who Is Tauseef Badshah?
Tauseef hails from Patna’s Phulwari Sharif. His background hardly points to a life of crime. His father runs a hardware store, his mother is a teacher, and he studied at Saint Karen’s School, one of the city's better-known educational institutions. But somewhere along the way, Tauseef slipped into a darker world.
According to police officials, he already had a criminal record and was named in at least one case under the Arms Act. Recently, Tauseef is believed to have moved deeper into organised crime, allegedly accepting money to carry out contract killings or support such operations logistically.
Police sources, quoted by NDTV, suggest the hospital killing was rooted in a bitter gang rivalry. Chandan Mishra, the victim, was once an ally of gangster Sheru. The two fell out in Bhagalpur jail, and Chandan later formed his own faction, still operating under the name “Sheru Gang.”
Celebration of a Cold-Blooded Murder
The footage of Tauseef inside the hospital is haunting. He neither hides his identity nor rushes the act. When the shots ring out, his associates flee in panic but Tauseef does not.
Photographs that surfaced later only added to the brazenness of the attack. In one, Tauseef is seen riding pillion on a motorbike, one hand raised in the air, pistol aloft. Another shows one of his associates celebrating, both arms raised, as though victory had been won.
Police have detained six suspects so far and launched searches at known gang hideouts. But Tauseef remains at large.
