Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being flayed by the Opposition, ever since the bronze sculpture atop the new Parliament building was unveiled. The leaders opine that the emblem differs from the original one and looks aggressive as opposed to graceful like the original.
The 9,500 kg Bronze sculpture was designed by two sculptors. Maharashtra's Sunil Deore is one of them. He has three studios at Aurangabad and one in Mumbai.
Deore, who is an alumnus of JJ School of Arts, was reportedly hired by Tata projects after they were given the tender to build the new Parliament building.
In the past, the sculptor has designed replicas of the Ajanta and Ellora caves at the Ajanta-Ellora visitor centre, a project which cost nearly Rs 125 crore.
Sunil Deore's father reportedly worked with Archaelogical Survey of India. He said in an interview that he used his father work as an inspiration while creating the bronze sculpture.
The 49-year-old sculptor's previous works have been exhbited in galleries like Jehangir Art Gallery.
Deore was recenly felicitated by the Culture Minister of the Maldives Yumna Maumoon and Indian Ambassador Ibrahim Mohamed Solihat an exhibition organised by National Art Gallery of Maldives with the Indian Culture Centre, India High Commission.
