Kolkata: Amidst the tussle between the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over removal of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta after Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari visited his residence, TMC spokesperson and state general secretary Kunal Ghosh on Tuesday visited Solicitor General Tushar Mehta’s house without appointment and was denied entry.

According to the security personnel either people with prior appointments or people attached to any case are given permission to enter the residence.

TMC Kunal Ghosh slamming both the Solicitor General and Suvendu Adhikari stated that this proves that Suvendu had prior appointment.

“This is norm without permission no one can enter Solicitor General’s house. Either Suvendu had taken prior appointment, or the Solicitor General and Suvendu is spreading lies that they didn’t meet”, said the TMC state general secretary.

Notably, new war of words started between the TMC and the BJP from July 1 after LoP visited Solicitor General as Tushar Mehta is representing both the Narada bribery scam and Saradha chit fund scam and in both the cases Suvendu is one of the accused.

Ever since then both Suvendu and Tushar Mehta said that they didn’t meet each other, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had asked the Solicitor General to release CCTV footages to prove his claims.

On July 5, TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy and Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra met President Ram Nath Kovind demanding removal of Tushar Mehta.

Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP vice president Jay Prakash Majumdar accused the TMC and said the TMC of trying to divert attention from major issues and also that the Solicitor General knows his job and jurisdiction.
