Kolkata: Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) taking a hint from the fake vaccination camp at South Kolkata’s Kasba area, in the evening visited the houses of those people who have taken vaccination from the fake camp.
According to KMC sources, inspection will be done on those who had taken the vaccine and TMC MLA of the area Javed Khan has also been called at KMC premises.
Earlier this day, several people including Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty in Kolkata were seen in a shocked state as they had taken covid vaccination from a fake vaccination camp.
One Debanjan Deb claiming to be an IAS officer of Government of West Bengal had conducted a fake vaccination camp in Kasba area in South Kolkata and had also invited TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty to get vaccinated from his camp.
According to the actor- turned- politician after she was denied the vaccination certificate, sensing something ‘fishy’ she had stopped the camp and got the person arrested.
“I received a message that a vaccination drive was launched by the joint commissioner of Kolkata Municipal Commission for transgender and differently-abled people. Just to motivate people to get vaccinated I was invited to the camp and I even took the vaccine. When I had demanded the certificate they said that they will send it in 3-4 days only then sensing that there is something fishy I had immediately stopped the camp and got the person arrested,” claimed Mimi.
According to several local people Debanjan used to flaunt Kolkata’s civic authority logo in front of his car which the police later recovered along with Debanjan’s fake ID card.
Reacting to the development, West Bengal Transport Minister Firhad Hakim said that if anyone from Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is involved in this scam strict action will be taken against them.
Meanwhile, according to the police sources Debanjan said that he had bought the vaccines from a wholesale market.
“Investigation is on whether those were real vaccines or anything else that was pushed to thousands of people. In his camp Debanjan has stated not just Covishield, even Covaxin and Sputnik V were available,” mentioned the police sources.
