Kolkata: TMC on Monday held protests at different places demanding the immediate arrest of Leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari for being allegedly involved in the Saradha ponzi scam and the Narada bribery scam.
The Trinamool Congress youth wing under the leadership of youth wing president Sayoni Ghosh, TMC MLA Babul Supriyo, state general secretary Kunal Ghosh gathered at the CBI office in CGO complex in Salt Lake.
The TMC youth wing urged the CBI to immediately arrest Adhikari for allegedly being part of corrupt activities.
TMC MLA and former Union Minister Babul Supriyo claimed that just to escape from arrest by the central agencies Adhikari fell on the feet of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“I have shown courage to join TMC from BJP and Adhikari should have some courage to face the central agencies. Everyone should gift mirrors to Adhikari so that he can see his true face,” said Babul.
Chanting a slogan ‘Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who is the biggest thief of all’, the singer-turned-politician also challenged the Governor for making Adhikari face the quizzing of the central agencies.
“The Governor is the custodian of the Constitution. Every now and then the BJP meets the Governor. The next time when Adhikari meets him, he (Governor) should make him understand to face the central agencies as Adhikari was seen taking money and also Saradha kingpin Sudipta Sen said that he gave money to Adhikari,” further added Babul.
Slamming the BJP, Babul said that BJP is making clear that the central agencies are being run by BJP as during the turmoil Enforcement Directorate (ED) sent summons to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut.
It can be noted that on Tuesday under the leadership of state education minister Bratya Basu, a eight-member delegation will meet Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar demanding the immediate arrest of the Leader of Opposition.
TMC spokesperson and state general secretary Kunal Ghosh claimed that the Adhikari family became famous due to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
“Astonishingly Suvendu Adhikari’s video in Narada scam has vanished and is not being shown by anyone. We urge that the probe should be unbiased and BJP leaders should not be saved. Mukul Roy is also seen in video and quizzing is also done to Mukul,” mentioned Roy.
Meanwhile, protests were also held in Haldia and Contai. In Cooch Behar, black flag was shown to Adhikari by TMC supporters.
However, the Leader of Opposition in a rally claimed that the BJP will ‘topple’ the TMC government before the 2026 Assembly election.
“After Maharashtra, then Jharkhand and Rajasthan, BJP will also enter Bengal and this government will be toppled,” claimed Adhikari.
