Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday had announced ex-gratia for the sacked teaching and non-teaching staff who lost their jobs due to the verdict of Supreme Court earlier this month due to irregularities in SCC recruitment.
During the meeting of the sacked teaching and non-teaching staffs with Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, the Chief Minister over telephone had announced Rs 25000 for the group C and Rs 20000 for the group D staff.
“After talking with the chief secretary, state labour minister and lawyers we have decided to offer this amount to the sacked teaching and non-teaching staff. They can tell me if they will accept it till the matter is solved. We have several social security schemes. We have kept the education department out of this. We also give Rs 10000 to the Dunlop workers for several years,” said Mamata.
The West Bengal Chief Minister also mentioned that by the first week of May, the state administration will appeal for a review petition.
“The legal advice are being taken and we are hopeful that by the first week of May we can appeal for the review petition. I won’t speak about the tainted and untainted as I have not received any list with evidence. If the apex court rejects the appeal completely then we will look for an alternative route abiding the law,” added Mamata.
Mamata also stated that the state government will give Rs. 10 lakhs to the families who lost their lives in Pahalgam.
“For the case of deceased Bitan Adhikary Rs. 5 lakhs will be given to his wife and Rs 5 lakhs to his parents. Rs 10000 pension will be given to Bitan Adhikari’s parents and a Swasthya Saathi card will be given to them. If someone asks for a job we will also look into it,” mentioned the West Bengal Chief Minister.
Mamata also said that the state government will also give compensation to the victim’s of Murshidabad violence.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari following Calcutta High Court’s order visited Jafrabad in Murshidabad and gave Rs. 20 lakh compensation to the family where father and son were killed by miscreants.
