Kolkata: Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Friday mentioned that the women are not ‘safe’ in West Bengal. Raising the comments of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Birbhum heavyweight leader Anubrata Mondal, Adhikari added that the ‘language’ of Mondal clearly shows the condition of women in the state.

“The language which Mondal used about Bolpur IC is appalling. From the RG Kar incident to the language of Anubrata Mondal clearly shows that the women are not safe in this state despite having a woman Chief Minister. I am telling everyone that nothing will happen to Anubrata Mondal but the IC will get suspended in future,” said Adhikari.

Mentioning that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold ‘Nari Samman Yatra’ at Bolpur, Adhikari added that people of Bolpur will attend the rally in large numbers as a protest against the language used by Mondal on IC.

“Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had taught Mondal what to say in the police station. After Bolpur’s rally on June 9, the same yatra will take place in Nadia. I am expecting at least 10000 people to attend the rally,” added the Leader of Opposition.

Taking further potshots at the state government, Adhikari alleged that the portal started for COVID-19 is ‘non-operational’.

“I am giving just the example of Malda that if 10 people are tested, nine people are testing positive. But the portal started by the state government is non-operational. The state government is playing with the health of the people,” further stated Adhikari.

Adhikari also alleged that the revision of OBC list is part of ‘appeasement’ politics of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
