Kolkata: Four Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs on Monday including Chief whip Shankar Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, Manoj Oraon and Deepak Burman got suspended from the state Assembly for the ongoing session.

BJP legislators were protesting inside the House for expunging of party MLAs comments. Later the BJP legislators were interrupting Trinamool Congress (TMC) minister Chandrima Bhattacharya’s speech following which Speaker Biman Bandhopadhyay initially asked the BJP legislators to ‘stop’.

After the saffron camp MLAs continued with their protests the Speaker had suspended four BJP MLAs and the House Marshals were called to take away the BJP Legislators out of the House.

Before leaving the House, BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul had heated exchanges between Paul and TMC MLA Asima Patra.

Later, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari while speaking to the media outside the House said that several the BJP MLAs were assaulted while being removed from the House.

Speaker Biman Bandhopadhyay however, said that 14 security staffers of the assembly were injured as they were trying to remove the suspended MLAs from the House.

“It is a very unfortunate incident. Such a thing should not take place in Parliamentary democracy. Inspection will be done about the complaints that BJP MLAs personal belongings were damaged and complaints of saffron camp legislators damaging the microphones will also be looked into,” said Bandhopadhyay.
