West Bengal: Muslim Community Joins Ram Navami Celebrations In Malda, Shares Sweets And Water (VIDEO)

As Ram Navami devotees marched through the city, members of the Muslim community stood shoulder-to-shoulder with their Hindu neighbours, sharing sweets and water bottles-an act that transcended religious boundaries in this minority-dominated town.

Kolkata: At a time when both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) locked horns over Ram Navami celebrations, a display of humanity and unity was seen in Malda and also in Kolkata where people of Muslim community came forward for Ram Navami celebrations.

Members of Malda Muslim community were seen distributing sweets and water to the Hindus who took out Ram Navami processions.

“We all want to stay together. India is our motherland and we all stay together. To mark unity, we are doing ‘pushpabrishti’ on everyone who is participating in the celebrations,” said a member of Malda Muslim community along with chants of “Jai Shri Ram’.

At English Bazar, people of Muslim community were seen showering petals of flowers to the devotees who took out processions.

English Bazar municipality chairman Krishnnendu Narayan Chowdhury mentioned that India symbolizes ‘togetherness’.

Several people from Muslim community were also seen in a procession where Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari participated in Kolkata.

Earlier this day, Adhikari also laid the foundation stone of the Ram temple that is yet to be built at Nandigram.

Taking to X, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “Greetings to all on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami. I appeal to all to maintain and uphold the values of peace, prosperity and development of all. I wish the celebration of the Ram Navami all success, in a peaceful manner.”

Slamming the Chief Minister, Adhikari said, “Mamata Banerjee wished on Ram Navami without taking Lord’s name but she celebrated Eid in keeping with full religious sentiment. Sanatani are peace loving and don't get into violence.”

TMC leader Kunal Ghosh also took out a procession in north Kolkata and mentioned that Lord Ram is for everyone.

Meanwhile, several rallies organized by the saffron outfit saw displays of weapons and the participants mentioned that taking out processions with weapons is part of tradition and culture. However, there were strict vigil by police across the state to avoid any untoward incidents.
