Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday while attending an Eid congregation at Kolkata’s Red Road said that some political party is creating ‘Ganda Dharam’ (dirty religion).
Terming Bharatiya Janata Party BJP as ‘Jumla’ (fake) party accused the saffron camp and CPI (M) for allegedly creating ‘riots’ in West Bengal.
“Some political leaders are trying to create political tension in the state. No one should fall into the trap. In believe in the religion spread by Ramkrishna Paramhansa and Swami Vivekananda. The jumla party is trying to spread ‘Ganda Dharam’. That is also against the Hindu religion,” said Mamata.
Mamata also mentioned that she will not let any riot in the state.
“I am for everyone irrespective of the religion. Let incite riots and my job is to stop riots,” further added the West Bengal Chief Minister.
Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari questioned the Chief Minister which religion she meant by mentioning ‘Ganda Dharam’.
“"Hum 'Ganda Dharm' ko nahi manta hai". - Mamata Banerjee. Kaun sa Dharm ganda hai Ms. Mamata Banerjee? Appeasing the Muslim Community at the Red Road with your almost incomprehensible gibberish Urdu dialect, you made a statement that you don't follow the 'Ganda Dharm' or 'Dirty Religion'. Which religion were you specifically referring to? Sanatan Hindu Dharma? What kind of provocative speech did you deliver at the Red Road on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr? You uttered the words 'Danga' & Riots more than you repeated the word Eid. Was it a religious event or a political programme? Why were you deliberately mongering hate with the deliberate intention of creating animosity between communities? Ms. Mamata Banerjee, you are the one who weaponizes religion. It will boomerang on you very soon,” said Adhikari.
CPI (M) leader and politburo member Sujan Chakraborty said that by such ‘provocative’ comments Trinamool Congress (TMC) is giving more ‘mileage’ to the saffron camp.
Meanwhile, BJP is gearing to hold several processions during Ram Mandir celebrations.
BJP former MP Dilip Ghosh said that they will carry weapons during processions. “The state police had failed to provide security to the Hindus for which the Hindus will have to provide security to themselves,” added Ghosh.
