Kolkata: After the state government denied permission to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat to hold a rally at East Burdwan on February 16, Calcutta High Court on Friday gave permission to Bhagwat to hold public meeting at Sports Authority of India (SAI) complex in East Burdwan.

According to the High Court sources, “Justice Amrita Sinha while giving permission to hold the said event asked the organizers to be careful about the sound level as board examinations will be going on.”

According to the petitioner, loud speakers will not be used and only sound boxes will be used so that the sound gets limited within the venue where the event will be held.

The Centre’s deputy solicitor general Dhiraj Trivedi, appearing as a lawyer for the RSS said in the court that they had already received permission of the ground where the programme will be held and also that they have informed police as Bhagwat has Z-plus security.

Trivedi also mentioned that there is no school near the ground of SAI complex. On Thursday the state government had denied permission to hold a rally where Bhagwat is scheduled to speak citing board examinations, following which the West Bengal chapter of RSS moved the High Court.
