Kolkata: Politics seen even over celebration of 163 rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at his ancestral house in Shimla Street in North Kolkata.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari after offering floral tribute to Swami Vivekananda without naming anyone, said that those who slam ‘saffron’ don't have the right to follow Swami Vivekananda.

“Swami Vivekananda is still relevant. We all should follow him. But those who slams saffron don't have the right to follow Vivekananda. Swamiji has said that one should say proudly that he/she is a Hindu. At this moment the Hindus are suffering in Bangladesh,” mentioned Adhikari.

Notably, coincidentally representatives of both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) visited the ancestral house of Swami Vivekananda at the same time.

Countering the claims of the Leader of Opposition, TMC minister Shashi Panja said that politics should not be done with Swami Vivekananda.

“Politics should not be encouraged during the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda,” mentioned Panja.

TMC national secretary Abhishek Banerjee also visited Swami Vivekananda’s ancestral house to give a floral tribute.

Banerjee also mentioned that the teachings of Vivekananda are still ‘relevant’ and everyone should follow the same.
