Kolkata: After Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, arrested Saradha ponzi scam’s kingpin Sudipta Sen on Thursday said that in his letter to CBI he has also mentioned Mukul Roy and state Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
“Not just Suvendu but his brother Soumendu has also taken money from me. Suvendu had promised me to help to build a high-rise building in Contai and took 50 lakh rupees from me. Mukul Roy and Adhir Ranjan Chwodhury have also taken help from me,” said Sen.
No sooner did Sen say this than TMC state general secretary and spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that all those who are named by Sen should be taken into custody and interrogated to bring the ‘truth’ out.
Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari alleged that Sen is saying what Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wants him to say.
Congress state president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee is ‘purposely’ maligning him.
“Mamata didi knows that there is nothing to malign me for which she is purposely trying to malign me. I don’t mind facing the CBI officials but Mamata didi should come along with me. Sudipta Sen, Mamata didi and I should be quizzed together and even I will come to know what exactly had happened then. I had filed a defamation case against Sen but he didn’t reply,” mentioned Chowdhury.
It can be noted that Sen on December 1, 2020, had written a prisoner’s petition (permitted under jail code rule 615) and has named at least six political leaders who had allegedly taken money from him when Saradha group was active across the state.
In his letter, he has mentioned names of Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, Mukul Roy, Congress state chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, CPI (M) leaders Biman Basu and Sujan Chakraborty. He has also mentioned the amount taken by these leaders.
