Heavy rainfall in Bihar has led to waterlogging in various parts of the state - including hospital premises. Visuals from the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital show flooded corridors and rooms, and even a lone dog wandering down the aisle. Patients and doctors go about their routine, even as water laps against the foot of their beds.
Similar situations have been reported from other hospitals in the state as Cyclone Yaas continues to affect weather patterns in eastern India. As per an ANI report, the Sadar Hospital in Katihar witnessed waterlogging, with all wards (including OPD) being submerged. A third video, from Friday, show medicines floating about after rainwater entered Patna's Jai Prabha Hospital premises.
While doctors and hospital staff continue to look after the patients, their work has now become rather complicated. According to a report by news agency ANI, some were even spotted using their motorbikes to reach the patients through the waterlogged corridors in Sadar Hospital.
According to officials, seven people have been killed in Bihar due to Cyclone Yaas. One person each died in the cyclone in Patna, Darbhanga, Banka, Munger, Begusarai, Gaya and Bhojpur.
Earlier, on Friday, the India Meteorological Department had said that the storm had weakened into well-marked low-pressure area over Bihar and adjoining east Uttar Pradesh. The cyclone had made landfall in Odisha on May 26, causing severe flooding and significant damage in parts of Odisha and West Bengal.
Further details awaited.
