In a village under the Barasgawar police station area of Unnao district, a young man was caught red-handed by villagers when he visited his girlfriend's house at her invitation. After tying them together, the villagers beat them severely.
Some villagers recorded the brutal punishment given to the couple and made the video viral on social media.
The couple kept pleading for mercy, but those beating them showed no compassion. After being alerted police arrived at the spot and rescued the couple from the villagers. The young man was admitted to the hospital in serious condition. Both parties have submitted written complaints at the police station.
According to reports, a married woman from a village in the Barasgawar police station area was having a love affair with an unmarried young man from the same village. On Thursday night, the young man reached her house at her invitation. When neighbors got wind of this, they caught both of them, tied them together, and beat them severely.
The lover kept apologising to the villagers with folded hands, but their hearts did not melt. During this time, someone made a video of the Taliban-style punishment and made it viral on social media. After learning about the incident, the young man's family members reached Barasgawar police station and informed the police.
The family members have filed a complaint against four young men from Mahuakheda village. It is being reported that the woman's husband works in Hyderabad's Telangana.
Unnao Police has responded to the viral video. In a post on X, Unnao Police stated, "The officer in charge of Bangarmau is working to identify the individuals who committed the assault in the viral video, and necessary legal action will be taken against those involved."
