New Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra fainted during the ongoing protest by Opposition MPs against the Election Commission of India (ECI) in New Delhi on Monday. Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi tried to revive her. The video of the incident also surfaced online.

Notably, Opposition MPs were detained by the Delhi Police as they were protesting against the EC over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). In the video, other MPs, including Priyanka Gandhi, were also present inside the police bus.

TMC's MP Mitali Bagh also fainted during the agitation.

The protest was held days after Rahul Gandhi accused the poll body of colluding with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the 2024 Lok Sabha and other assembly elections to "steal votes".

After the Lok Sabha LoP's "vote chori" allegations against the ruling BJP, the Opposition rallied behind the Congress MP and targeted the Central Government.

The other opposition leaders detained are - Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut and TMC MP Sagarika Ghose. The parliamentarians were taken to the Parliament Street police station.

After being detained, the LoP said the fight is not political, but to save the Constitution. "The reality is that they cannot talk. The truth is in front of the country. This fight is not political. This fight is to save the Constitution. This fight is for One Man, One Vote. We want a clean, pure voters list," the Congress MP from Raibareli told ANI.

"Will the prison bars be able to stop Rahul Gandhi and the Opposition. 'Ab ek hi naara hai- Bol raha hai poora desh, vote hamara choo ke dekh'...The people of this country have rejected the partnership of the Modi government and the ECI," he added.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the Central Government is scared. "Dare hue hai. Sarkaar kaayar hai. (The government is coward, they (Centre) are scared)," Priyanka told ANI.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was seen jumping over barricades as Delhi Police stopped the INDIA bloc MPs from marching to the Election Commission's office. The Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister could be seen climbing over the barricades, installed by the police to block the protesting MPs. Akhilesh Yadav jumped to the other side to continue the protest.

"They are using the police to stop us," Akhilesh Yadav shouted.

The protest march began from the Makar Dwar of the Parliament under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. The MPs were raising slogans of "vote chor" as they marched towards the office of the poll body at Nirvachan Sadan, before being halted by the police.
