A heated altercation broke out between leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) and the Congress during debate on YouTube channel YOYO TV, with a video of the scuffle going viral on social media and intensifying political tensions.
The debate featured Devani Satish from the Congress Party and Gautam Prasad from the BRS. The situation escalated after Satish made controversial remarks, to which Prasad, unable to counter effectively, reportedly responded with harsh language before physically attacking Satish. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with Congress leaders accusing the BRS of resorting to violence instead of reasoned debate.
A social media handle supporting the BRS shared the video but was accused of bias in its reporting. While it explicitly named the Congress leader involved, it referred to Prasad only by name, omitting his party affiliation. The post was also criticised for downplaying the violence, framing the incident in a way that shielded BRS leaders from backlash.
Congress leaders have strongly denounced the incident, accusing BRS activists of avoiding substantive debate and instead resorting to physical aggression.
According to local media reports, the Congress party also issued a stern warning, suggesting that if such attacks continue, Congress workers would retaliate forcefully.
