Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), April 16: A woman who eloped with her future son-in-law days before wedding from Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh, returned to the police station. The husband claimed that the woman eloped with his daughter's groom with cash and jewelleries.

The woman was detained and taken to the police station, where she narrated the reason for taking the extreme step of eloping with her lover, who was going to marry her daughter on April 16.

If they had not eloped, the marriage would have taken place today. A video has surfaced on social media in which the woman is seen crying and narrating the ordeal she had gone through with her husband.

The woman claimed in the video that her husband has levelled false allegations against her. She said that she ran away from the house without taking anything along with her. She said that she took only a single pair of saree and came back with it. She also said that her husband would beat her mercilessly after drinking alcohol.

Narrating her ordeal at the police station, the woman also said that her husband has not done anything for her. She eloped to escape her abusive marriage. She also said that she will not return to her husband under any circumstances and also said that she wants to spend her life with her daughter's groom. The police claimed that the couple was apprehended near the Nepal border in Bihar, after which they brought back to Aligarh for questioning.

The woman refused to return to Madarak Police Station, she was taken to Dadaun Police Station. The police said that the woman who has been identified as Sapna will be presented before the magistrate as her husband filed a complaint against her for robbery.

Her lover Rahul's father had also filed a complaint in connection with the matter. The police registered a missing complaint and initiated an investigation into the matter. After 10 days, the police detained both, Rahul and Sapna near the Nepal border.
