Tirupati: In a shocking incident, a tragic stampede occurred at Vishnu Nivasam in Tirupati on Wednesday. There are reports that around four devotees have lost their lives in the stampede and several people have suffered injuries in the incident. The injured have been rushed to nearby hospital. The incident occurred during the distribution of Vaikunthadwara Sarvadarshanam tokens, which drew a massive crowd of devotees.

Details About the Incident

The chaos erupted as devotees gathered in large numbers, vying to secure the coveted tokens. The overwhelming rush led to a stampede, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of three individuals. Among the deceased was a devotee from Salem, Tamil Nadu.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock over the incident. Andhra Pradesh CMO issued statement in connection with the incident and said, "Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu expressed his deep shock over the death of 4 devotees in the stampede that took place near Vishnu Niwasam in Tirupati for darshan tokens at Tirumala Srivari Vaikuntha Dwara."

Immediate Action Taken

Four others who fell during the stampede were rushed to Ruia Hospital for urgent medical care. The rescue and relief teams quickly stepped in to control the situation and ensure the safety of the remaining devotees.

Concerns Over Crowd Management

The incident highlights concerns about crowd management during major religious events, where large numbers of devotees gather. Local authorities are investigating the situation to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

The incident occurred on the day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the state and laid foundation stones for several developmental projects in Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu accompanied the Prime Minister during the inauguration of projects.

There were around 4,000 devotees present when the incident occurred during the token distribution.
