Lucknow: Two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation during the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. The incident was caught on camera, and soon the video of the verbal clash between Rajesh Chaudhary, a BJP MLA from Mathura and Saurabh Srivastava from Varanasi, went viral on social media. The incident took place on Wednesday during the 'Vision 2047' debate in the assembly.
Other lawmakers present in the assembly tried to calm them down. In the viral video, it can be seen that some MLAs stopped Chaudhary from charging towards Srivastava, who was sitting two rows ahead.
Video Of The Incident:
The argument broke out between the two MLAs when it was to be decided who would speak in the assembly on behalf of the ruling government, reported NDTV. The MLA from Mathura reportedly alleged that Srivastava was not forwarding his name to the Speaker of the assembly.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also shared the video of the heated argument between the two BJP lawmakers on his X account. Slamming the saffron party over the incident, Yadav said, “Badsalooki aur badzubaani hi BJP ki tarakki ki seedi hai, nindniye (misconduct and abusive language are the ladder to success in the BJP. Condemenable!).
Chaudhary hit back at the SP chief for his remarks. He questioned Yadav for his silence when a Muslim cleric made misogynistic comments on his wife, Dimple Yadav.
“Akhilesh Yadav ji, what is truly condemnable is when a fanatic grossly insulted your wife, the honour of your household, Mrs. @dimpleyadav ji, and you remained silent,” Chaudhary said.
“If you have even a shred of shame left, open your mouth and respond to the fanatic who insulted the honour of your household, a woman. How do you face your wife at home? We stand with Dimple ji in support of women's honour,” he added.
Last month, a Muslim cleric, Maulana Sajid Rashidi, made objectionable and inflammatory remarks against Dimple Yadav during a television debate, drawing sharp criticism from political circles and triggering legal action. An FIR was filed against him.
