Uttar Pradesh: Priyanka Gandhi continues tirade against Yogi Adityanath, meets Panchayat Poll victim, demands repoll

Lucknow: With more surprise in her bag, congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on second day of her UP tour reached Lakhimpur village to meet the woman who was stripped during mayhem of panchayat poll. A day before Priyanka had staged dharna and observed Maun Vrat at Gandhi statue in the state capital. The congress general secretary and in charge of UP is on a three day tour of state.

On Saturday, the second day of her tour, Priyanka reached Pasgawan village of Lakhimpur district in UP and met with the women who had faced harassment from ruling BJP workers during the nomination of block chief nomination. Priyanka visited the residence of Ritu who was denied filing nomination of block chief post and her proposer Anita was stripped off by the rowdy mob of BJP supporters.

After meeting both, Priyanka said that BJP must listen that one day the women would become MLA, MP and Chief Minister in this country and give a befitting reply to them. The congress general secretary said that she would write a letter to the state election commission seeking justice to the women and other people who have been denied participation in the panchayat polls. She said that there should be re-election of panchayat in Lakhimpur where the nomination papers of a woman candidate was snatched and torn. Priyanka said that there is no democracy in UP and everyone has to fight to restore it.

On her way to Lakhimpur from Lucknow, Priyanka was greeted by thousands of people in the way and her convoy was stopped at many places by the enthused mob.

Later on her return to state congress headquarters, Priyanka addressed a huge gathering of party workers. In her address she said that everyone will have to work for getting good results in 2022 assembly polls. She said that it was only congress workers who toiled hard to serve people during covid crisis. Priyanka said that congress will seek advice and guidance from senior leaders to connect with the masses. She said that a lot of young enthusiastic people have joined party in the recent past who will give a boost to congress prospects in the coming assembly polls. The congress general secretary will leave for Delhi on Sunday.

However a senior congress leader informed that Priyanka will come again to UP next month and stay for few days.
