Lucknow: Inspired by the success of Operation Sindoor following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, noted mango cultivator and Padma Shri awardee Haji Kalimullah Khan has named a new mango variety after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Known as the "Rajnath Aam," the mango is said to reflect the minister’s personality. Khan, popularly known as the "Mango Man," stated that this variety has taken 7–8 years to develop and resembles Singh in stature - tall and large, with each fruit weighing over half a kilogram.

Khan added that he had considered dedicating a mango to Singh earlier, but waited until he developed a fitting variety. Rajnath Singh, currently the MP from Lucknow is also India’s Defence Minister

Dussehri Mangoes secure advance air cargo bookings

The Lucknow administration has initiated advance air cargo bookings for Dussehri mango exports following a meeting of the Mango Export Core Committee.

Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob directed horticulture authorities to secure air freight space and establish sales counters at major transit hubs including airports, railway stations, and bus terminals.

Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) will coordinate supply chains for both international shipments and domestic retail in four metropolitan cities. The measures aim to capitalize on the variety's premium market positioning, with last season's exports reaching 18 countries including UAE, UK and USA.
