Lucknow: A car driver was brutally murdered with a sharp edged weapon in Lucknow late Sunday night over an alleged love affair. The incident occurred in the Mawai Kala area under Rahimabad police station limits. Police have taken four suspects into custody, including the victim's lover’s husband.
According to police, two men arrived at the house late at night and forcefully entered after pushing the victim’s mother aside. As the victim, Sanjay, came out to investigate, the attackers used a banke (a grass-cutting blade) to repeatedly strike him.
Sanjay’s mother pleaded for mercy but the assailants continued the assault, shouting they would "cut him into pieces." The injured man ran toward the kitchen and later tried to escape through a nearby canal, but the attackers followed and inflicted fatal injuries.
Sanjay, married for 12 years, had been estranged from his wife and living with his childhood lover Meera, who was also married. Police say tensions over the relationship may have motivated the crime.
Meera, present at the scene after the incident, alleged that her husband Sunil was behind the murder, claiming he was angered by her relationship with Sanjay. Authorities have launched an investigation; no formal complaint has yet been registered.
