Private medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh have seen a substantial increase in fees for MBBS and postgraduate (MD/MS) courses for the academic session 2025-26. MBBS fees have risen by ₹1.55 lakh to ₹5.71 lakh, while MD and MS programs in several colleges are now up to ₹10 lakh more expensive. The fee hike has been approved by the state government, based on a report from the Medical Education Department's Fee Regulation Committee.

The Fee Regulation Committee, specifically constituted to determine fees for private medical colleges, held multiple meetings between February and June this year. During these sessions, proposals from all private colleges participating in counselling were reviewed, and their claims were heard. After verifying the submitted documents, the committee finalized and approved the new fee structures. Out of 31 medical colleges offering MBBS, 17 have seen an increase in their fees.

Similarly, among the 23 medical colleges providing postgraduate courses, 9 have received approval for a fee hike.

In addition to tuition, hostel fees have also seen a marginal increase. Last year, hostel charges ranged from ₹1.92 lakh to ₹3.30 lakh, which have now been revised to ₹2.02 lakh to ₹3.46 lakh for the upcoming academic year.
