Mohammad Sajid, a resident of Girdharpur village in Bareilly's Devraniyan area, was arrested on Sunday night for sharing a provocative video supporting Pakistan on social media.
According to reports, Sajid had posted a video on his Facebook account showing individuals waving the Pakistani flag and chanting pro-Pakistan slogans. The video quickly went viral, triggering public outrage and prompting multiple complaints to local police.
Acting on the complaints, police arrested Sajid. A new video has since surfaced showing him limping while being taken to jail. In the footage, Sajid can be seen walking with the support of police personnel while weeping and saying, "Pakistan Murdabad (Down with Pakistan)."
Local police, led by SSP Anurag Arya, have intensified monitoring of social media platforms. "Our cyber cell team is continuously monitoring all social media platforms," Arya stated. "Those posting objectionable content will face strict legal action."
In a separate Shahjahanpur case, three individuals were booked for circulating fabricated videos of a terrorist attack on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Police Superintendent Rajesh Dwivedi confirmed the videos, which falsely claimed a terrorist attack in Shahjahanpur, were entirely fake. Cases have been registered against three account holders, including Ankit Kumar and Parvinder, with investigations underway.
