Shahjahanpur: A shocking incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur wherein a father killed his four children by slitting their throats. After committing the gruesome crime, the man reportedly killed himself.
The disturbing event took place in the Manpur Chakri Gotiya village under on the night of March 26. As per preliminary investigation, the police have suspected domestic discord and mental health issues as the reasons behind the horrific act.
How Did the Crime Unfold?
According to reports, the accused, identified as Rajiv, was at home when he brutally slit the throats of his three daughters and a 5-year-old son. After killing them, Rajiv died by suicide.
The incident came to light the following morning when Rajiv’s father, Prithviraj, tried to wake him up for their usual morning tea; however, the house was locked from the inside. Somehow, he managed to enter the house but was met with the heart-wrenching sight of his grandchildren's lifeless, blood-soaked bodies lying inside. He immediately informed the police.
Police Investigation Underway
Upon receiving information, the police and forensic teams swiftly reached the site. As per a report by The Lallantop, District Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi confirming the incident, said, "It was reported that a 36-year-old man had killed his four children before committing suicide. He was suffering from mental health issues and domestic discord. The crime likely occurred during the night of March 26."
Rajiv’s family further revealed that he sustained a severe head injury in an accident last year and was on medication for the same, which often led him to bouts of mental distress.
Reportedly, his wife was at her maternal home when the tragic incident occurred. Authorities are currently investigating the case.
