Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday had visited Kolkata and was present during Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari’s filing of nomination from Bhabanipur constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Shah urged people to bring in a ‘change’ in West Bengal.
“I have a shortcut of how to bring the change in the state. Just make Suvendu Adhikari win from Bhabanipur and the change is bound to happen. Suvendu wanted to contest from only Nandigram but I told him to contest from Bhabanipur as well and to defeat Mamata Banerjee. People of the state are distressed by frequent bomb blasts, gunfire and unemployment in the state. From 2014 whichever states had BJP in power is getting developed,” said Shah.
The Union Home Minister also mentioned that after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power in Bengal they will build ‘Shonar Bangla’ as envisioned by Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and Shyamaprasad Mukherjee.
After addressing the crowd, Shah made a roadshow along with Adhikari and BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Samik Bhattacharya.
Incidentally, at Hazra more, near the residence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and at Alipore BJP-TMC clashed and chants of anti BJP and anti Adhikari were given to the Leader of Opposition.
