Tragedy On Tracks: Kamakhya Express Derails Near Nirgundi Railway Station In Odisha; Visuals Surface

A tragic accident occurred on Sunday as 11 coaches of the Kamakhya Express derailed near Nirgundi railway station in Cuttack’s Choudwar, resulting in the death of one passenger. Two others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Bhubaneswar: A tragic accident occurred on Sunday as 11 coaches of the Kamakhya Express derailed near Nirgundi railway station in Cuttack’s Choudwar, resulting in the death of one passenger.

Two others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The exact cause of the derailment remains unclear.

About The Incident

According to East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources, the incident began when one coach of the Bengaluru-Kamakhya Express derailed, triggering a chain reaction that caused multiple bogies to go off track.

The accident took place at approximately 11:54 AM as the train was crossing Nirgundi station. Following the derailment, the Khordha Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and a special rescue train were dispatched to the site to manage the situation, ECoR officials confirmed.
