Kolkata : Days after conclusion of the West Bengal Assembly elections under the strict vigil of the Election Commission, the ruling Trinamool Congress on Monday said it wants a debate throughout the country about the powers and jurisdiction of the poll panel.

A senior TMC leader said on condition of anonymity that the party is also “pondering over the idea of moving into a larger and bigger platform to seek justice over the atrocities committed on us by a section of Election Commission during the Assembly polls.”

“We would like to have a debate over the powers and jurisdiction of Election Commission. How can we say that the Election Commission works impartially as there has been instances of an Election Commissioner getting a Rajya Sabha ticket after retirement from service?” the leader asked.
