Shashi Tharoor, Congress MP from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram, recently expressed that there is a leadership vacuum in the Kerala Congress and said that if the party accords him with responsibility, he would be there for the party. If not, he has other options.

Tharoor's remarks have set off political debate on social media on whether he is planning to leave the grand old party after being 'sidelined' by the party.

Amid the buzz of a rift with the Congress party, the Thiruvananthapuram MP shared a picture with BJP leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal on X.

Sharing the image, the Congress leader said, "Good to exchange words with Jonathan Reynolds, Britain's Secretary of State for Business and Trade, in the company of his Indian counterpart, Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. The long-stalled FTA negotiations have been revived, which is most welcome."

Shortly after his tweet, he put up another post supporting Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi's demand from the Union Government to convert the Wayanad landslide relief from a loan to a grant and to extend the deadline to spend it.

Sharing a link of a news article related to Priyanka Gandhi's request, Tharoor said, "The victims of Kerala's worst disaster deserve no less!"

Meanwhile, reacting to Shashi Tharoor's comment about a leadership vacuum in Kerala's Congress, Senior CPI(M) leader Thomas Isaac hinted that if Tharoor wishesd to leave Congress, he would be welcomed by CPI(M).

He called it a "miracle" that Tharoor has remained in Congress for this long and stated, "Our party has welcomed many Congress leaders in the past."
