Chandigarh: The third special flight carrying 112 illegal immigrants from the US - including 31 Punjabis - landed at the Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport late Sunday night.
Among the deportees, 44 are from Haryana, 33 from Gujarat, 31 from Punjab, two from Uttar Pradesh and one each from Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
While the deportees who were still inside the airport till the time of filing this report, were likely to be allowed to be sent to their respective homes after the thorough police verification and completion of other formalities in another couple of hours. According to information, arrangements had been made for their stay and transportation for the deportees of other states.
It may be recalled that the third US flight came a day after the US military aircraft carrying 116 illegal immigrants had landed around Saturday midnight.
Like with the deportees in the first lot, several of the deportees in the second flight also claimed that they were handcuffed and their legs were chained during the journey.
