Hyderabad: Two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) from Andhra Pradesh died in a road accident in Telangana's Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Chakradhara Rao and Shantha Rao. Meanwhile, two others also sustained injuries.

The shocking incident took place in Kaithapuram village. A team of four police personnel, comprising the two DSPs, Additional SP KVSS Prasad, and driver Narsimha Raju, was travelling in a Scorpio vehicle from Vijayawada to Hyderabad, reported India Today. They were on an official duty.

Visuals From The Spot:

The car hit the road divider while trying to avoid colliding with a vehicle going ahead of them when the latter's driver applied sudden brakes at Choutuppal near Hyderabad.

After hitting the road divider, the ill-fated car fell on the other side of the road, and it was hit by an oncoming vehicle, police said as reported by PTI. The DSPs died on the spot due to the impact of the collision. Meanwhile, Prasad and Raju were rushed to a hospital for treatment.

A case has reportedly been registered in the matter. The police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter to determine the reason for the accident.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday condoled the death of two DSPs in a road accident.

It is unfortunate that two DSPs, Chakradhar Rao and Santha Rao, working in the intelligence and security wings died in an accident at Baithapuram village of Choutuppal mandal in Yadadri district," said Naidu in a post on X.

"My deepest condolences to their family members and I pray to God for the peace of their souls," added Naidu.

Similarly, former chief minister and YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock over the death of the two police officials. He conveyed his condolences and prayed for peace for their souls, said a YSRCP press release.
