New Delhi: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath on Friday appealed to the members of Telangana and Seemandhra regions to put forth their views on Telangana without causing any disruptions, and added that this matter can only be  put to rest by a vote in the Parliament.

“I appeal to everyone that when the Telangana issue is brought to discussions, they should present their views. By disrupting the house, our functioning of the Parliament is weakened. Parliament is made for debates, rejects and approvals,’ he told media here today.

“This matter can only be put to rest by a vote, because there will always be members from Telangana and Seemandhra. You can oppose it. Parliamentary democracy does not mean obstruction. So this is what members must realize that this matter cannot be put to rest other than a vote in the Parliament,” he added.

Meanwhile, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP’s protested outside the Parliament against the formation of Telangana.

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly had earlier rejected the draft Bill to create a separate Telangana state.

On December 5, last year, the Cabinet cleared the Parliamentary bill for bifurcating the Andhra Pradesh to create a separate Telangana state, with 10 districts. In July last year, the ruling Congress party approved the creation of a new Telangana state, which had raised fears of violence in the area.

The proposal was received with mixed emotions across the state, with various politicians starkly opposing the bifurcation.
